The tragedy of unmarked graves…yes, it is a tragedy to leave the resting place of a loved one unmarked. Worst of all, it is a needless tragedy, in a time when beautiful granite memorials may be acquired at prices you can afford.
There is more to a monument than merely identification; there is commemoration, respect, and enduring memories carved into each letter of a beautiful marble, granite, or bronze monument.
I have personally observed numerous families who waited years before making a decision regarding memorialization, due to the grief that follows the passing of a loved one. Memorialization is particularly challenging for families who lose two, three, or even more family members in a short period of time. Grief in such circumstances is overwhelming, and depression is commonplace, often immobilizing those who are left to make decisions for the family.
When both spouses pass away during a short period of time, the likelihood of an unmarked grave increases substantially, especially when there are either no children or has been an absence of financial planning. Avoid the tragedy of an unmarked grave by planning ahead! After all, it is the right thing to do!
