The Memorialist: Mausoleums: The Triple Horizontal Design

Author: Burton Fletcher
Publication Date: 2005-12

I like mausoleums a lot. Before I decided to be cremated, I had insisted on being buried in a mausoleum. As with all monument and memorial products, there are many shapes, styles, and designs to choose from. Mausoleums are built as singles, doubles, and triples and are upwards in size.

One particular design of interest is the triple-horizontal mausoleum. This design is in particular demand for couples who lose their only child, with the desire that all members of the family be interred together.

Naturally, the purchase of a mausoleum is more challenging than a typical memorial, as these products are less likely to be in inventory. This should be a preneed purchase, as it may take several months before this can be manufactured.

With any heavy monument, a properly poured and reinforced foundation is essential, and it takes time for the concrete to cure sufficiently before it is used to support the weight of a mausoleum.
