By now, my readers have come to learn that I appreciate a wide variety of
old and new memorial designs. Today, I am highlighting a beautiful design, with a shape
that is truly unique, created by a fabulous designer.
Heart
The heart shape for this memorial is exquisitely beautiful. It is readily available in red
or black, and in other colors upon request. You are unlikely to see another cemetery
monument like this beauty any time soon.
The designer starts off with a serpentine top, and then goes wild with style with an
oversized deep carving of an exquisitely-detailed rose on the upper right side of this
magnificent memorial.
The face of the monument is polished, with lines for molding. But then, as you look
closer, you see a balance rock pitch design that flows around the face of the monument
with straight lines, in the style of the shell rock border. This is an exquisite design of
unparalleled quality.
How Would I Improve This Design?
Although the overall design is very attractive, I would recommend a couple of changes to
this design in the area of the base. I do not usually like solid balance rock pitch on the
outside face of the base, and I have not changed my opinion for this design. Instead, I
would have an all-polished margin, with balance rock pitch at the bottom. Also, I would
use a wash to drain water from the top of the base.
I also think it would be beautiful to carry the same design as used on the tablet down to
the base, with a combination of polish in the center, with the shell-rock like design
along the top of the face, and sides, perhaps creating a panel on the base.
