The Memorialist: Do You Know The Difference Between Concave And Convex?

Author: Burton Fletcher
Publication Date:2005-12

I suppose it is true that a picture is worth a thousand words. Concave versus convex is a concept that confuses a lot of folks, so I thought I would include a short article with a picture to explain the difference.

Monument sides may be straight, tapered, concave, convex, and the like. Straight sides are common place, and tapered sides are for another article. Concave is typically described as a curve matching the inner surface of a circle or sphere; while convex is the opposite of concave, or a cut matching the outer surface of a sphere. Perfectly clear, now? That is why a picture is worth a thousand words.
