. The McNeel Company, founded in 1892,
published the gold standard in its landmark publication, McNeel, The Greatest Name
in Stonecraft. McNeel refers to monuments as Heirlooms from generation to
generation. Because the words of McNeel are beautifully expressed, I will quote
them.
Like all fine things, fine memorials are not accidental happenings. Quality is a
forethoughtwith minute attention to each detailof material, workmanship and
finish. Knowledge sufficient to correctly and ideally perpetrate each of these three
factors comes from extensive experience and inborn good taste.
To be of heirloom quality therefore, monuments must withstand times severe
testof artistryworkmanshipthe choicest of materials and the finish. That
is why McNeel Memorials are heirlooms. Quality for over fifty years of accumulated
knowledge goes into the selection and creation of each McNeel product.
A McNeel Memorial will be treasured as an heirloom generations from now.
McNeel correctly states that fine memorials are not accidental happenings. I
have observed clients who were in a hurry, or who were only concerned with
the lowest price and who were not interested in taking the time to make a wise
decision. A fine memorial is a beautiful work of art. Unfortunately, cemeteries are filled
with me too monuments that will never be considered heirlooms.
